Tipitina's 2nd Birthday Celebration

Lots of tape flips, cuts, hiss and buzzes in weird places.
I cleaned it the best I could.

Sounds like Charles Neville. Improvisational live N'Awlins music at its best!

Huge fan of this incredible recording, Fess, Becky, etc!! Wow!! I'm thrilled to listening to this historic recording. It's so cute that Fess says the Percolators would be back, instead of Radiators! And the late great Earl 'trick bag' King!! And he gets the Eddie right for Volker, but the last name is off. I'm so glad I moved to New Orleans in 1975 when Fess was alive and I saw him play many times, along with Gatemouth Brown and the Meters/Nevilles.

A Rads show from 79 is a treat all ready and all the great guests on this are more than a little something extra. I guess this would have to be the 1st anniversary show?

I am not sure if the posted version is the same as mine but I will check.

The was recorded by Tim Clary and he shared it with me in 1982 when I convinced him to allow me to copy (cassette to cassette) his masters from the 1979 and 1980 Birthday Parties from Tipitina's.

I will have to check on some other early Rads shows he lent me with that batch as well...

An early recording of the Radiators is worth its weight in gold. I downloaded this to hear them with the 'Fess and Earl King, and it's worth it for that; but the vocals of the late Becky Kury are worth the download effort alone. I had never heard her sing, but I had heard of her as being of member of the Rhapsodizers along with Clark Vreeland, Ed Volker, Camille Baudoin and Frank Bua. I got goose bumps listening to her sing Steal Away. This is an awesome set. Download it now. Play it now. You won't regret it.

I was compelled by the early date, but this is worth it for the FESS. This is the only "taper" action I have with any Fess, and I have goosebumps just listening to his voice right now. Thank you so much!

I'm not sure if any Rads fans realize the significance of this show....I give this 5 stars for its historic value alone!
